2024 Porsche’s Macan EV is revealed, and will be launched next year!
Recently, Porsche unveiled the exterior and interior of the Macan EV. Macan is an urban SUV successfully developed by Porsche. Positioned lower than the Cayenne, it became a great success after its launch. It currently ranks second behind the number one Cayenne in Porsche’s global sales. That said, this is an important model in Porsche’s sales list.
The biggest feature of Macan EV is that it is based on the Volkswagen Group’s next-generation electric vehicle platform PPE (Premium Platform Electric) and has evolved from an internal combustion vehicle list to a fully electric vehicle list.
First of all, the exterior design is changed from a traditional SUV to a Coupe-type SUV. It is characterized by the body line that starts from the B-pillar and slides back. The headlight situation is similar to the Taycan’s design. Due to the composite headlight type, the top part of the light is expected to function as a daytime running light (DRL) and direction indicator light, while the bottom part will function as a headlight.
The interior follows Porsche’s latest design layout. It is characterized by the use of digital technologies such as three display screens and an augmented reality head-mounted display (HUD).
Judging from the three displays, the driver’s seat is equipped with a 12.6-inch screen, which is the same as the Taycan. It is equipped with a “curved display”, which is very gorgeous.
The center display that can operate the entire infotainment system is 10.9 inches, and the passenger screen is 10.9 inches. Co-passengers can use the display to confirm navigation routes or enjoy media such as video streaming.
The existing PCM (Porsche Communication Management) infotainment system is also undergoing changes. As announced in November, it will be based on Android through a partnership with Google.
This allows the driver to use Spotify, YouTube, WebEX and other programs in the Porsche App Center and display Apple Maps or Google Maps on the digital dashboard.
For the first time in Porsche’s sales list, an augmented reality (AR) display system for the Macan EV will make the front windshield a fourth display. The size reaches 87 inches, and the navigation path and distance to the vehicle in front are displayed through augmented reality. “This is the largest HUD currently available,” explains Porsche.
Since the new car is a pure electric vehicle, what you need to pay attention to on the Macan EV is the battery and the range of a single charge. The Macan EV is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 100kWh, which ensures a driving range of 500 kilometers (European WLTP standard) on a single charge. Compared with the Taycan, which has a driving range of about 400 kilometers, considerable progress has been made.
The PPE platform is equipped with an 800V high-voltage charging system, which can quickly charge up to 270kW. Under optimal conditions, assuming an optimal temperature of 23°C, the Macan EV can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 22 minutes. It will also be equipped with air suspension and rear-wheel steering functions to improve driving performance.
The Porsche Macan EV will be launched in early 2024. It was originally planned to launch Makan EV at the end of this year, but due to difficulties in software development, the launch was delayed.
